The Sterling Valentine model showcases features normally reserved for custom and boutique guitars, usually with a price tag of four figures. Something that has excited a lot of players about this guitar is its roasted maple neck; this process has become popular among builders such as Suhr, PRS, and even Fender within their custom shop. When you roast a maple neck you are effectively aging the wood, drying it out through a careful process that results in a more durable, resonant piece of wood; this process also allows the natural figuring of the wood to stand out in a pronounced manor while darkening the maple to a rich caramel color. The pickup layout in the Valentine is like that of a 70s Telecaster Deluxe- with a slanted single coil (in a humbucker housing) in the bridge, and a vintage inspired humbucker in the neck position. Located on the volume knob is a 12dB "Push-Push" boost, which launches your tone into a searing and definite roar, all the while saving some room on your pedalboard.
