This pedal is a completely hand-wired tube preamp. It is closely based on the 1963 Fender Deluxe circuit, with modifications pioneered by Alexander Dumble, and finely tuned for great performance in all modern applications.
It can be used as a clean boost, or an overdrive. For gain reduction in your pedal chain, or ran into the FX return jack of any amplifier (eliminating the anxiety of using backline gear). You can even plug straight into a mixing deck or recording interface to color your signal.
The control layout is simple to navigate. You're provided with a Gain control, a Bass and Treble control, and a control for the Level of the signal. Two switches provide you with an adjustable mid-frequency as well as a voice control. In the UP position, the pedal is voiced with a medium gain sound, with a wide range between your clean overdriven tones. Think "Dumble". The MIDDLE position of the switch will throw you into the highest gain, while bypassing the EQ controls. Lastly, the DOWN position will give you a nice low gain sound, with high head room. Very similar to the early Fender sound.
This particular build has an experimental level switch located next to the output jack. The UP position provides full output, the MIDDLE provides 50% of power, and DOWN provides 25% of power.
